We already gave you a little hint about this a couple of weeks ago, but today we are excited to announce and share the story of another one of our local suppliers. Meet a wonderful, women-powered business: Cookie and a Cupcake!
Syndee Bergen and Wendy Thompson met while working at Lockkeepers in the early 2000s. They spent a lot of time together in a small room without windows baking all day and loved it, and both also had side businesses they were passionate about too. So one day, Wendy asked Syndee if she wanted to combine forces and make their own adventure. From those efforts, A Cookie and A Cupcake was created! Both women knew they wanted to do things from scratch, with their own special recipes, attention to detail in their products, and a love of custom work.
In 2008 they were able to open their first location in Tremont on Professor. They quickly learned that their passion created a bright spotlight on their products and custom cakes. The demand became overwhelming for their tiny shop and they opened a second space in Tremont in 2012 called Churned Ice Cream shop where they made delicious ice cream and worked on all the custom cakes.
Their adventure didn’t stop there…combining those two stores was the next big step and they found their sweet spot just three years ago at 2681 West 14th in Tremont. Both their ice cream and cupcakes can now be found in one, a concept that helped them open their East side location (13953 cedar road) soon after. Their greatest joy is that they get to talk to their customers every day, create new custom cakes, and continue pursuing future projects.
One future project is providing cat-themed cupcakes and cookies for affoGATO Cat Café! Check out the ones they made for our last event:
Almost too cute to eat! If you want to learn more about this awesome local business, or can’t wait until we open to pick up a sweet treat, then check out some more of their work or find your closest location here!
