In honor of National Cat Day, we wanted to share a few renovation updates with you!
First, we added some finishing touches to the cat climb wall and catwalk. We reinforced the catwalk to make it even sturdier, and added brackets for the last two shelves.
We’re now hunting for used cat, coffee, and Cleveland themed books and games to fill the shelves. (We got the “Cat Who” series, Hallie. We’re still hunting for the “Street Cat Named Bob” series, Kathy.) Please let us know if you have any more suggestions!
We have started bringing in furniture, so now it’s really hard not to fall asleep in the cat lounge. We hope you guys find the chairs as comfy as we do! The tables will also have a couple of books and cat beds in the sides, and cat toys in the top compartment.
We finally touched up the wall and took the plastic off the windows, and they look great!
We had our counters installed on the cafe side. We are so incredibly happy with them, they really brighten up the space! Now that they are in, and the water connections are set up, we are working to get the coffee equipment installed as soon as possible. We also stained, clear coated, and installed the cafe shelves that you saw Al building in the last post!
We need to install our cat doors and new flooring in the privacy room, and do a few minor paint touch-ups, but then the space should be just about ready for cats to move in! We hope to have news of the city electrical, plumbing, and fire inspections soon, so wish us luck!
All in all, the cafe is looking a lot more finished than it was a few weeks ago, so we feel very optimistic that we’ll be able to set an opening date soon.
On the non-renovation side of things, we sent out the remaining GoFundMe donor purrks via mail yesterday for anyone who wasn’t able to arrange to pick them up. This includes the stickers, handwritten letters, t-shirts, and hoodies. We will send out info regarding purrks involving events and early reservations once we’re ready to open.
We were also featured on WKYC’s site and social media in honor of National Cat Day! We answered a few questions by Lindsay Buckingham and gave a quick tour of affoGATO so that you can get a better look at the space. Check it out here!
Since we don’t have cats here yet, help us get in the spirit today by sending pics and telling us about your cats in the comments!
