As much as we would love to meet your feline friend, we do not allow any pets at affoGATO Cat Cafe. The Cleveland Animal Protective League and our staff work hard to find cats that get along with each other and our guests, and we would like to keep everyone feeling healthy and pawsitive.
Found a cat, or need to surrender yours?
We do not have the resources to process animal admissions at affoGATO Cat Cafe. The cats at affoGATO come from the Cleveland APL, so we encourage you to get in touch with them instead. If you think the cat may be a good fit for affoGATO’s cat lounge, be sure to mention it to the admissions staff, and there is a chance the cat may move in!
Please follow their instructions for animal admissions. The number for the Cleveland APL’s admissions office is 216-771-8825.
If you found a stray that you believe belongs to someone, you can also try and find the owner directly! Any vet or shelter should be able to scan for a microchip with the owner’s information. You can also check some of these popular resources to see if anyone has posted a matching lost pet, and/or make your own “found pet” post (we are not affiliated and do not specifically endorse any individual resource).
- Contact nearby shelters directly to inform about found pet (please do this first, since shelters are the first place the owner will likely call to look)
- Sam the Parrot
- Weirdo Cat Lovers of Cleveland
- Cleveland, OH – Lost Dogs, Cats, & Pets
- Cuyahoga County Lost and Found Pets

Not comfortable bringing a cat to the shelter?
If you don’t feel comfortable surrendering your cat to the shelter, please consider rehoming directly! Here are some resources that may help (we are not affiliated and do not specifically endorse any individual resource):
- Home to Home + Cleveland APL – The Cleveland Animal Protective League has teamed up with Home to Home, a national organization that links those who must surrender their pets with prospective new owners in an effort to ensure that animals do not needlessly end up in a stressful shelter setting.
- Local social media communities (For example, Weirdo Cat Lovers of Cleveland)
Please remember to thoroughly vet the person you are potentially rehoming with, including asking about their household(other pets, kids, landlord restrictions, etc), whether they plan for the cat to be indoor-only, etc. Share any tips to allow the cat to easily adjust (food brand, toys they like, etc). And don’t forget to update their microchip if they have one!
Unless you are using a trusted program like Home to Home, consider charging a fee if you plan to rehome with a stranger for the animal’s safety. If you don’t want to “profit” from rehoming, you could compromise by having the adopter send proof of a donation to a local shelter instead!
